Rosemary is an evergreen herb with the scientific name Rosmarinus officinalis. It is native to the Mediterranean region and is a member of the mint family. The name "rosemary" is derived from the Latin words "ros" meaning "dew" and "marinus" meaning "sea," as it grows near the sea in its native region.

Rosemary has been used for culinary, medicinal, and decorative purposes for thousands of years. It has a strong, pungent flavor and aroma and is commonly used as a seasoning in Mediterranean cuisine, particularly with meat dishes. It is also used in teas, as a fragrance in perfumes and cosmetics, and as a natural remedy for a variety of ailments.

In traditional medicine, rosemary has been used for its anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and anti-cancer properties. It is also believed to improve memory and concentration, boost the immune system, and improve digestion.

Rosemary is easy to grow and can be grown in a variety of climates, making it a popular herb for home gardeners. It prefers well-drained soil and full sun, and can be propagated by stem cuttings or seeds.
